Go for a walk

Lakeland Highlands is a  551 acre conservation area. There are trails measuring as long as 2.2 miles or a for a shorter stroll there is a 0.6 mile trail. Be sure to check out the boardwalk especially during the rainy season to see more wildlife in the wetlands area. The trails are great for spotting wildlife such as alligators, gopher tortoise, red shouldered Hawk and much more! If you are into birds, we recommend download The Merlin Birding app and you can find out more about the birds surrounding you!  Look for the Lichen Loop to safely walk further into the wooded area. Lakeland Highlands Scrub is 230 feet above sea level which is surprising since it all used to be underwater.  If you would like to extend your hike, you can walk into Sevens Wetlands to walk a couple more miles.
